Novel November

Dear Hubby,

The first week of November saw us doing the Diwali purchases. I admire your patience in taking me to various places to do my sari shopping. But your absolute disinterest ‘while’ I shop is somewhat strange. But seriously, you have to agree, I am way, way better than the women in your family who spend almost half the day in one shop itself. I guess your disinterest stems from waiting endlessly during one such shopping trip during your bachelor days 😆

Last year, we celebrated Diwali at my parent’s place. This being my first here, I wanted to do it prim and proper. I hereby promise that I will never ever say these words in future. My back was totally broken by the end of the day. I loved how you served me my lunch at 4. I loved you even more when you saved some crackers for me which I delightfully lighted at 10. But honestly, I am planning to run off to some place in the coming years.

This was the first time I did something on impulse – booking tickets for my own annual vacation. Before I could change my mind, in less than 3 minutes, I was staring at my confirmation sms. I so wanted to go home in the last week of December, but since it was clashing with your sisters visit, I preponed the trip by a couple of weeks.

November was a breeze, I could not comprehend that it got over so soon. Just when I had finished the sweets made during Diwali, came another occasion to make a new batch of new goodies 🙂

Oculus October

Dear Hubby,

Finally, finally we found the perfect sofa for our living room. I don’t think we could have got a better deal than this. And the colour contrasts with the curtains beautifully. Though it transformed the living room,  it started our financial downfall vortex, which sadly is continuing till date 😐

This month gave me enough health scares. The painful medications added with office workload made a complete mess of me. Enough torture was given to you and the BFF during those times – I am thankful to God for giving them enough strength for tolerating a nutcase like me.

October saw us discussing and debating an important career move of yours, am eagerly awaiting its outcome in January.

The naming ceremony of S’s baby – all the guests had one question. Why did the baby born in January have a naming ceremony in October. I visited the old city market area for the first time and to my eyes, the vendors were downright rude. They would not let me or your aunt touch any of their wares before purchasing. Now how would you buy fruits without touching them!! The lunch was oh-so-awesome. But the I think the real reason I hogged the food is because of the constant running between two floors of their apartment.

Every bad has some good in it. Sandy affected many, many people in US adversely. But it gave unexpected holidays to you. And lesser work later  🙂

And the very last day of October – I want to ask you a question. Was it really so difficult to drive through the rain to office that you bunked 😛

Sept(ember)

Dear Hubby,

Two days after the month started your uncle passed away. I admired your strength and tenacity at that time. One day you attend the funerals and the next day you are back at work. I could not concentrate even one bit in my office while you slogged the day off like anything. It was later I deduced that you are working furiously to keep your mind away from the death, which was so sudden.

The insane amount of travelling made me fall sick. I loved the way you stood up for me when I was asked to travel again before the 13th day ceremony. Thank you. Certain formalities need not be implemented at all, there being no point or logic behind it. I wish people stop following useless rituals and instead use that money constructively for the family of the deceased.

Ganesha festival celebrations were not marred due to the death. Hunting for a clay idol made us go round and round the market area, but thankfully we got the cutest and sweetest ever clay Ganesha. I loved the last-minute purchase of umbrella which you did, I never knew you could keep that too. All the delicacies and savouries came out perfect. You know, it’s always strange – that the dishes we cook without tasting comes out so well, especially during the festivals, where before doing the puja one should not taste anything.

We rounded off the month by doing the Girivalam. You were so sure that I won’t be able to complete it 😛 To be frank, I amazed myself. There was so much to see, observe and learn from people coming from different walks of life. It was an experience for life, glad that we could share with each other.
